早いもので、あっという間にmidtermに突入して、
今日take-home examを提出して一息つきました。
来月時期外れの試験がありますが、それを抜かせばあとはfinalまでは読書と宿題にいそしむ日々になります。
今日提出したのは、Transportation Planningという都市計画大学院の授業なんですが、
全部で５問あって、そのうち４問選ぶ形。
で、１問につき、750-800 wordsが求められます。
midtermの時期にこの量を書かされるのは結構しんどかった。。
でも、この授業は充実した知識や情報をインプットできるので、面白いです。
Finalはこれ以上の試験だったらどうしようと不安に思いつつ、頑張ります。
- Describe five criteria or characteristics for each of the following modes: walking, biking, bus, rail, and automobile. In reviewing these descriptions, identify two major features that differentiate the bus/rail/auto modes from walking and biking.
- Cities are presented with a choice of transportation modes with different characteristics and performance levels. Based upon our class discussions concerning the hierarchy of modes, describe the evolution of five land use and transportation policies or programs during the 20th Century. Which one would you say was the most powerful in shaping metropolitan areas in the U.S. during this period and why?
- You are transportation director for a very low density metropolitan area that is very congested with automobile traffic. If HOV/HOT lanes are not options because of high traffic levels in all directions with little, if any substantial space to add more lanes, describe your top five priority approaches for reducing vehicular congestion.
- Congratulations! You have been appointed to a top policy position at U.S. DOT. Their goals are to promote major transit programs in the next 20 years. What five policies would you recommend to achieve these goals (5x5%) and which one would you say is the most important to advance and why?
